Childhood obesity continues to be a serious problem in the United States. That is why Novo Nordisk recently awarded Princeton Health $25,000 to support the continued expansion of Healthy Eating, Active Living, a community-based outreach initiative focused on nutrition and wellness. One of the major objectives of this program is to provide engaging classes for elementary and/or middle school students about healthy lifestyle choices, including nutrition and exercise.
This grant will allow us to offer approximately 80 classes in five school districts across Mercer and Middlesex counties in 2020. A series of hands-on education sessions will be offered during the school year to over 3,500 children, teaching them the basics of nutrition and good eating habits. Princeton Health’s Community Education Department successfully piloted this program in the fall of 2018 and looks forward to expanding it this year.
Princeton Health is honored to partner with Novo Nordisk to facilitate programs that will have a meaningful impact on the future generations of our community.
