Princeton Health President and CEO, Barry Rabner Steps Down

Barry RabnerAfter 18 years that have brought extraordinary change to Penn Medicine Princeton Health, Barry Rabner will step down as president and CEO on January 1, 2021. Since joining Princeton Health in 2002, Mr. Rabner has led the organization through major milestones that include designing, financing and building a new hospital and health campus and becoming part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, which is internationally recognized as a leader in clinical care, research and education. 

During his tenure, Princeton Health has received national recognition for clinical quality from the Joint Commission and the Leapfrog group, and has achieved Magnet status, the highest level of achievement for professional nursing. He also led a financial turnaround making Princeton Health one of the most financially sound health systems in New Jersey for several years.

Among the many contributions Mr. Rabner made, under his leadership, the organization completed a $171 million capital campaign, which was the most successful hospital capital campaign in the history of New Jersey and the largest for a health system of Princeton’s size in the United States.

“Through his vision and leadership, Mr. Rabner inspired thousands of individuals, organization and companies to support PMPH philanthropically, which has directly impacted patient care and the health of our community. We are tremendously grateful for his partnership over almost two decades” said W. Thomas Gutowski, MD, Chairman, Princeton Medical Center Board of Directors.

In recognition of Mr. Rabner’s longstanding commitment and accomplishments, the Princeton Medical Center Foundation will be creating the Barry S. Rabner Endowment, which will support employee health and wellness initiatives at PMPH.
