In an effort to reach more children in our community, we will be expanding our programming to several local school districts, bringing classes directly to the schools.

Philanthropy at Work

The PMC Foundation has received leadership gifts from two local foundations in support of nursing education.

The Burke Foundation made a gift of $250,00 and established the Diane W. Burke Endowed Fund for Nursing Excellence. This fund will support the advancement of nursing practice in the Center for Maternal & Newborn Care at PMC. Their gift will enhance the knowledge and skills of maternity nurses to support ongoing, high-quality care for a healthy pregnancy and childbirth experience. James Burke, president of the foundation, and his family members are longtime residents of the Princeton community and supporters of the Princeton Health.

The George H. & Estelle Sands Foundation, administered by Jeff and Betsy Sands along with Deborah Sands Gartenberg made a donation of $250,000 in support of nursing development. The Sands Foundation has a multi-generational legacy of supporting Princeton Health, fostering educational opportunities for nurses, among other areas.

The impact of these generous gifts were doubled to $500,000 each, thanks to a $1 million grant established in the fall of 2019 by philanthropist Betty Wold Johnson to mark the centennial anniversary of Penn Medicine Princeton Health. This $1 million challenge grant for nursing excellence, will support scholarships and continuing education, research and innovation, and the Nursing Residency Program.

Princeton Health is proud to be 500 hospitals worldwide to hold Magnet® status, the highest institutional recognition for nursing excellence.
