After 36 years with Princeton Orthopaedics Associates, Dr. Gutowski is retiring from practice in the spring of 2022. With unparalleled clinical and leadership skills, Dr. Gutowski played an integral role in designing and executing a best-in-class national model for hip and knee joint replacement surgery. For five consecutive years, the Jim Craigie Center for Joint Replacement has been named among the leading orthopedic programs in the nation, in large part due to Dr. Gutowski and the extraordinary team of physicians, nurses and team members with whom he works.

After graduating from Columbia University, Dr. Gutowski was awarded a medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1980. He went on to Yale University School of Medicine to complete a two-year general surgical residency training program, followed by his orthopedic residency at the same institution. While at Yale, he served as clinical instructor and orthopedic chief resident from 1984 to 1985. Dr. Gutowski joined Princeton Medical Center in 1985 where he has practiced since.

He has served as the president of the Medical and Dental staff and a member of the Board of Trustees at Princeton Health. Today, he is the Chairman of the Princeton Medical Center Foundation's Board of Directors.

While his leadership and surgical acumen are hallmarks of his career, Dr. Gutowski is perhaps best known for his warm bedside manner, easy conversation and kind approach to everything he does. He is admired and respected as much in the operating room and the halls of the hospital as he is in the community for his spirit of generosity and compassion. Endowing the Director of the Jim Craigie Center in Dr. Gutowski’s name will recognize his impact on the health and wellbeing of thousands of patients in our community. This honor will provide a lasting and fitting tribute to Dr. Gutowski’s impressive accomplishments and help ensure that Princeton Health continues to recruit world-class orthopedic talent for generations to come.

To help celebrate his retirement and deepen the impact of his life’s work we ask that you join us in ensuring that Dr. Gutowski’s legacy lives on at Penn Medicine Princeton Health.
