Making an Impact
Gifts made to the department will provide funding towards programs and new initiatives throughout the Center for Bariatric Surgery & Metabolic Medicine. Here are a few examples of what your gift can impact:
- Obesity Simulation Suits
Obesity Simulation Wearable and Mannequin Suits, designed for healthcare staff training. These innovative tools address the challenges of physical assessments and safe patient handling for obese individuals, fostering empathy and reinforcing our commitment to compassionate, quality care in a diverse and inclusive healthcare environment. - Obesity Education Program
Creation of an Obesity Education Program targeting patients grappling with obesity and the wider community. The initiative involves producing a comprehensive video explaining obesity as a medical condition and emphasizing the necessity of diverse treatment approaches. Subsequently, a tailored informational packet, inclusive of educational handouts, will be provided to patients. Additionally, procurement of resources such as BMI calculators and other useful tools is planned to serve as promotional items during community outreach events. - Patient Engagement Program
Allocation of resources for our Patient Engagement Activities, including support for the Life Without Limits club. This involves providing options for individuals interested in participating but facing financial constraints. Furthermore, resources will be allocated for various challenges, walks, and events to offer additional incentives and commemorate patient involvement in their pursuit of improved health.
