What is the benefit to using the Center for Emergency Care at PMC?

PMC's Center for Emergency Care is equipped to handle both pediatric and adult emergencies. The Center is open 24 hours a day and staffed by board certified emergency medicine physicians and registered nurses who are trained in emergency care and disaster preparedness.

Specifically for children, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has a pediatrician on-site 24 hours a day to consult with emergency clinicians and parents. PMC's Center for Emergency Care also has a designated pediatric emergency area, specifically designed to treat children's emergencies.

What ages can the Center for Emergency Care handle?

Our emergency room can handle children of all ages.

How long will it take for my child to be seen?

Children with severe or life-threatening illnesses are seen first. Other children are seen in the order of their arrival.

What is your relationship with CHOP?

PMC and CHOP partnered to enhance pediatric services at PMC at all levels of hospital care, including emergencies, inpatient pediatrics and neonatal care. Through this partnership, physicians and other healthcare professionals from CHOP work on-site with the physicians and clinical staff of PMC to provide exceptional care for your child.

Can I stay with my child?

Yes, parents are encouraged to stay with their child.

What if my child is uninsured?

No child is turned away from our Center for Emergency Care due to being uninsured or if your insurance does not cover certain services. Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), all individuals have the right to be treated for an emergency medical condition regardless of their ability to pay.

Is PMC a trauma center?

No, PMC is not a state-designated regional trauma center.

What is the address of the hospital? Where is the Center for Emergency Care?

PMC is located at One Plainsboro Road in Plainsboro, just off Route 1. Follow signs for the Center for Emergency Care once you enter the hospital campus.
