Supporting Employees in Times of Need

In December 2014, the Princeton HealthCare System (PHCS) Foundation launched the Employee Benevolent Fund (EBF) with the goal of providing financial support to PHCS employees in times of critical need. Seeded with gifts from several members of the PHCS executive team, the EBF is funded through tax-deductible donations made by employees, physicians, and other interested donors. An internal committee was established to review each confidential application and determine whether it meets the guidelines to be funded. Since the launch, EBF has provided assistance to 10 employees.

A special thank you goes to the PHCS Medical Staff, who recently pledged $25,000 to the EBF. This generous gift will help sustain the Fund over the next several years. “The PHCS Medical Staff recognizes the importance of being there for each of the more than 3,000 employees who are part of our PHCS family. We are committed to helping PHCS be the best it can be by supporting those who do so much for others,” said Bridget Ruscito, MD, President of the PHCS Medical Staff. The PHCS Medical Staff consists of more than 980 active medical staff. Our physicians have a long history of providing philanthropic support to our hospital, but most recently they played an important role in the Design for Healing campaign, which raised funds for the new University Medical Center of Princeton. Active and retired physicians, along with private medical practices, raised more than $5.5 million during the campaign.
