Celebration of Philanthropy

On a Sunday afternoon in October, 75 generous contributors to Princeton HealthCare System (PHCS) Foundation gathered in the atrium of the University Medical Center of Princeton (UMCP) for our inaugural "Celebration of Philanthropy" event.

With the arrival of fall, we celebrated the harvest of Thanksgiving by honoring donors who have supported PHCS with gifts of $1,000 or more in 2013 and 2014. This impressive group of philanthropists, whose collective generosity accounts for nearly $7.3 million, came together to receive our grateful good wishes. Decorated for an autumn gathering, the atrium was filled with guests who mingled and sampled seasonal fare. During a brief program, PHCS Leadership addressed the group: Jeanette Corris, Senior Director of Development, PHCS Foundation, started the program by welcoming our guests and thanking them for joining us for this inaugural event. Gerard Compito, MD, Chair of the Foundation Board of Directors, thanked all of the donors for their continued generosity and illustrated how it is through philanthropic giving that we are so fortunate to have such incredible health care right in our own backyard. Lastly, Donald F. Denny, MD, Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs, PHCS, provided an update on the continued advancements of PHCS, touching on the importance of philanthropy as we meet the current challenges in an ever-changing healthcare landscape. He also highlighted the new Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) outpatient center, under construction directly across Punia Boulevard from UMCP. The center embodies the partnerships that PHCS has forged to enhance patient care and develop our vision of a comprehensive healthcare campus.

We hope to make this an annual event to highlight the genuine gratitude we hold for our committed philanthropists, without whom we would not have been able to make as many strides as we have taken. So once again, allow us to say thank you to these donors and to all who continue to support the important work we do to keep our community healthy and strong.
