Princeton Medical Center Listed Among America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers
Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center (PMC) earned its way onto the America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2022 list that was published online August 23 by Newsweek. (See the list on Newsweek’s website here.)
The Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers list was compiled by Newsweek and Statista Inc., a global market research and consumer data firm. The list includes 255 hospitals and other inpatient rehabilitation centers nationwide that were evaluated on quality of care, service, and follow-up care, as well as accommodations and amenities.
The evaluation reflected:
—Recommendations and quality rankings offered by physicians, therapists, and other physical rehabilitation professionals.
—Key performance indicator (KPI) data published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
—Advanced accreditations by organizations such as CARF International (formerly the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities).
PMC earned its place on the list thanks to its 17-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit, which provides intensive, individualized therapies and medical management to people recovering from serious injury or illness to help them regain function and transition to home.
Care is provided in an on-site gym and a variety of public and home-like settings — including a unique, apartment-style suite within the unit — where people can practice life skills and daily activities in preparation for returning home. PMC is one of only nine New Jersey hospitals to earn CARF accreditation for its inpatient rehabilitation and stroke specialty programs.
“Congratulations to our physicians, nurses, therapists, and other professionals in Acute Rehab,” said James Demetriades, CEO of Penn Medicine Princeton Health. “Our goal across the organization is to provide an exceptional patient experience and high-quality care. Independent recognition like this is very gratifying.”
