Peter Thomas Elected to Board of Directors of The Association for Ambulatory Behavioral Healthcare
Peter Thomas, PhD, Vice President of Outpatient Services for Penn Medicine Princeton House Behavioral Health, has been elected to the Board of Directors for The Association for Ambulatory Behavioral Healthcare (AABH) for a three-year term beginning 2021. Dr. Thomas has been an active member of the AABH for 20 years where he has given multiple national presentations on the development and management of partial hospital programs.
“I am honored to help and support an organization I value highly due to their mission and goals,” said Thomas.
The AABH has been the primary association representing intermediate levels of behavioral healthcare in the US, including Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) since its founding in the 1960s. The AABH represents hundreds of providers and professionals and is the leading advocate for PHP and IOPs in the United States. The AABH offers opportunities to its members including national issue advocacy, research, and over 50 years of continuous national conferences for education and training.
A member of the Princeton House Behavioral Health senior leadership team since 2000, Dr. Thomas has executive responsibility for five outpatient centers located in North Brunswick, Hamilton, Moorestown, Eatontown, and Princeton, New Jersey. His responsibilities include strategic planning, analytics and forecasting, program development, clinical and business process improvement, regulatory compliance, and fiscal accountability. Dr. Thomas also led his team to create Princeton House’s Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program, a tele-health business line designed to provide secure, HIPAA compliant, uninterrupted patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Princeton House has provided more than 110,000 telehealth sessions since March 2020.
Dr. Thomas is a practicing clinical psychologist with 30 years of experience in clinical, academic, and administrative leadership positions. Dr. Thomas received his bachelor’s degree from Boston University and his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from DePaul University. He served two years as a Clinical Fellow in Psychology at Harvard Medical School where he received clinical training at Beth Israel Hospital and Children’s Hospital. Dr. Thomas earned the Approved Supervisor designation from the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy after two years of additional training at the Family Systems Program in Chicago. Dr. Thomas is also a member of the American Psychological Association and the New Jersey Psychological Association. Dr. Thomas resides in Princeton, N.J.
