Honoring Mental Health Month with Wellness Events for the Community
The last two years have been a challenge for everyone. The community has experienced the impact of illness, loss, and the toll the pandemic has taken on mental health. One part of Penn Medicine Princeton House Behavioral Health’s mission is to provide long-term wellness to the community.
“For 50 years Princeton House Behavioral Health, now a proud part of Penn Medicine, has been providing treatment to community members with mental health and substance use disorders. We have a wealth of talent and expertise in the area and are pleased to be able to share it with our community in addition to the thousands of patients we treat each year,” said Marguerite Pedley, PhD, Senior Vice President for Behavioral Health.
The organization’s recent Community Health Needs Assessment ranked mental health and wellness as the second biggest health-related concern of those living in our area.
The following low-cost or free events are open to the community during Mental Health Month:
—Yoga (multiple levels and dates)
—Mental Health First Aid Training (starts May 31)
—Self-Care Series: Silent Sunset Hike at Plainsboro Reserve (May 11)
—Young Adults: Ways to Cope Through the Pandemic (May 18)
—Mental Health First Aid Training for Fire & EMS (May 18 and 26)
Plus, monthly support groups for perinatal loss, grief and loss, weight loss, diabetes, and stroke.
