Gold Seal of ApprovalĀ® for Joint Replacement at Princeton Medical Center
Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center (PMC) has received the Gold Seal of Approval® for advanced total hip and total knee replacement following a thorough, on-site survey by The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest healthcare accrediting entity.
PMC is one of only six hospitals in New Jersey to hold advanced total hip and total knee replacement certification. This year marked the third time PMC earned the two-year designation, after achieving it in 2018 and 2020 previously.
“Our staff and physicians are dedicated to pursuing excellence and challenging themselves to achieve higher standards,” said Penn Medicine Princeton Health CEO James Demetriades. “This certification is another example of that organizational commitment to providing high-quality care and an exceptional experience for our patients.”
Joint replacement procedures are performed in the surgical suite at PMC and in its ambulatory surgery centers by surgeons who are affiliated with the Jim Craigie Center for Joint Replacement.
Patients recovering from joint replacements receive in-home or outpatient physical and occupational therapy, often provided by other divisions of Penn Medicine Princeton Health. The Craigie Center also provides a thorough preoperative education program to prepare patients for recovery at home.
In the 2022-23 Best Hospitals ratings published by U.S. News & World Report, PMC was rated high performing in orthopaedics, hip replacement, and knee replacement.
