At Princeton Medical Center (PMC) our anesthesia services are provided by a group of board certified anesthesiologists, including physicians with specialized fellowship training in areas including obstetric, pediatric, cardiothoracic and regional anesthesia as well as pain management.
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our anesthesia specialists use advanced techniques to provide safe and effective sedation and pain management.
Before Surgery
During the Pre-Admission process, a member of the anesthesia care team will go over your medical history and talk about your options for anesthesia. While many major operations are performed under general anesthesia, more regional anesthesia options are available depending on the procedure and a patient's overall health.
Perioperative Care
Our anesthesia care team is dedicated to providing patients with an exceptional experience before, during and after surgery - also known as perioperative care.
- Before surgery, your anesthesiologist will review your medical history, discuss the plan for anesthesia and answer questions you might have. He or she may also initiate regional nerve blocks and catheters to aid with pain control after surgery.
- During surgery, the anesthesia care team uses advanced monitoring equipment to ensure a high level of safety and comfort for a successful procedure. Because of their training, our physicians have experience with complex cases, including difficult airways and patients with multiple medication allergies.
- After surgery, you will receive a state-of-the-art, "multi-modal" approach to pain control with different oral and intravenous medications. A member of the anesthesia care team and the nurse taking care of you will check frequently during your stay to ensure that you are comfortable.
