Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants shall be able to:

  • Discuss surgical and non-surgical treatment options for patients status post rotator cuff tear.
  • Identify the best surgical options for large rotator cuff tears.
  • Discuss treatment options status post ACL injury as well as specific post-op protocols.
  • Design a return to play program.
  • Implement an injury prevention program for ACL injuries.

Course Description

This 2 credit course is designed for physical therapists and physical therapy assistants interested in learning updates about rotator cuff and ACL surgery as well as treatment options, rehabilitation, and prevention.

Rehabilitation practitioners who work with patients with rotator cuff and ACL injuries pre- and post-operatively should be current with the latest research in order to properly implement appropriate treatment.

This course will provide a detailed look into non-operative treatment for rotator cuff tears as well as surgical treatment options.

Treatment options post-ACL injury as well as specific post-op protocols, return to play, and injury prevention programs will also be discussed.

Educational Information

Certificates will be awarded to participants upon completion and passing a post-test. A passing score is considered 80% or better.

About the Speakers

Frederick Song, M.D.

Dr. Song received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center. He completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas.

Dr. Song is the team physician for the Peddie School, Ewing High School, and the Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams at Princeton University. He is also an Associate Master Instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Song has authored numerous articles on shoulder injuries and surgical techniques. He is currently a physician at Princeton Orthopedic Associates.

William Rossy, M.D.

Dr. Rossy received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed his orthopaedic residency at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. He completed a clinical fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Harvard-Massachusetts General Hospital. He is the head team physician for the West Windsor-Plainsboro North and South High Schools as well as the Pennington School.

Dr. Rossy has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on knees injuries and surgical techniques. He is currently a physician at Princeton Orthopedic Associates.
